Every year, the Humane Society of the United States sponsors a very special time called Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat that lasts the entire month of June.  An estimated four million adult cats and kittens are living in animal shelters right now in the United States and are still waiting to find their forever homes.

If your family has the time, financial stability, and space for a new loveable pet, you may want to consider bringing home a new cat or kitten this June! While thoughts of bringing home a new pet may be overwhelming because of the new responsibilities and challenges, there are several factors to consider before you decide if a new cat is right for you.Cats and kittens, contrary to the popular myth that cats take care of themselves, are completely dependant on their owners for all their needs like food, water, medical attention, and most importantly—companionship.  There are many daily responsibilities that come with owning a cat that a new owner must be ready for.  There are also many new financial responsibilities that come with a new cat like purchasing food, toys, cat litter, beds and furniture like food and water bowls and a litter box.  Cat should also be current on their vaccinations and have a yearly exam by a veterinarian which can be costly.
